Today’s Gold Price in Canadian Dollars

Gold trades around the clock, and the headline price — U.S. dollars per troy ounce — isn’t what your jewellery is worth at the counter. The figures below convert the live world spot price into Canadian dollars per gram for 24kt, 22kt, 18kt and 14kt gold, and refresh while you’re on the page. Use them as an honest starting point before you bring your pieces into our London, Ontario shop.

How to read these prices

The spot price is the global trading price for pure gold — 99.9% — quoted per troy ounce (31.1 grams). Jewellery is rarely pure: 18kt is 75% gold, 14kt is 58.3%, and the stamped karat tells us which. The per-gram values above are the market value of the gold content itself, before refining costs and before any premium for pieces worth more than their melt value.

Why an in-store offer can differ

A live market figure is a starting point, not a quote. Weight and purity are tested in front of you, and refining costs come off the top — but value can also move the other way. A trained gemologist will spot a brand-name piece, a quality diamond, or a setting worth more intact than melted, and price it accordingly. That’s the difference between selling to a working jeweller and a scale-and-cheque gold buyer. Read how our process works on our gold buying page.

Selling, or just curious what it’s worth?

If you’re ready to sell, bring your pieces to Daniel A Jewellery at 467 Wharncliffe Road South — no appointment needed, no obligation to sell. If you need a documented value for insurance or an estate, that’s a different number than melt value: a jewellery appraisal reflects replacement cost, not scrap. Not sure which you need? Contact us and we’ll point you the right way.
